‘LITTLE DID SHE KNOW (She’d Kissed A Hero)”

Sept. 23, 2001 –  Kristy Jackson wrote a song, “Little Did She Know (She'd Kissed A Hero”. 
Sept. 26 - Kristy recorded a work tape….one take.
Oct.  8 – Jack Murphy at WKZL – 107.5 Greensboro, NC aired the work tape.
Oct. 15 – Over 200 radio stations had downloaded the song.
Nov. 1 - It was the #1 MOST REQUESTED SONG ON THE LARGEST RADIO STATION,  WPLJ, IN NEW YORK CITY AND CONTINUED TO DOMINATE CHARTS IN NEW YORK AND MAJOR RADIO MARKETS   -    "Kristy's song has definitely struck a chord in New York, it's the most requested song on WPLJ by a 2-1 margin.... more requested than Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, NSync, Destiny's Child and the Backstreet Boys."

By Nov. 15,  – Kristy had done radio interviews with Scott Shannon at WPLJ in New York and major market stations in Atlanta, Wichita, Gainesville, Cincinnati, Columbus, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, San Diego, W. Palm Beach, Minneapolis, Long Island, Knoxville, Houston, Reno, Colorado Springs, and interviewed with Yahoo, NPR, John Tesh, Jim Brickman, Delilah, syndicated TV programs EXtra Entertainment and Inside Edition.
Nov. 20 – It landed in Australia on the #1 Syndicated Show – where she was interviewed by John Laws for The John Laws Radio Show and quickly became the #1 requested song down under.  She received over 400+ personal emails from Australia over the Thanksgiving weekend and decided to manufacture a CD of the song.
Dec. 2 - Kristy received a standing ovation at a full capacity crowd at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY performing the song live as part of WBLI’s Winter Jam.
Dec. 3 -  Kristy performed it live on the CBS Early Show with Bryant Gumbel and Jayne Clayson along with Joan and JoAnna Glick, Fl 93 hero Jeremy Glick’s mother and sister respectively.  Later that evening, Kristy got a police escort to Ground Zero. 
April 1, 2002 - CD sales were recorded in every state in the US as well as England, Canada, South America, South Bogota, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Australia, Italy, Japan, France, Denmark, Jamaica, British West Indies, Spain, China, Singapore, and Brazil

 
For the following 10 years Kristy performed the song free of charge from Hawaii to London.

Turning down a contract from Sony, Kristy remained independent, donating her royalties and sales of the CD to 9/11 charities and raised over $30,000.
In 2003, she produced a youtube video including her personal pictures from 9/11 and the journey of the song. 
In 2006, Kristy published an account of the journey of the song and including 168 of the over 5,000 poignant emails she received.  She answered every email personally.   The book has since sold out.

"Little Did She Know (She'd Kissed A Hero)" continues to get airplay on major market radio stations
on every anniversary of 9/11.
