On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda carried out the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in U.S. History by hijacking 2 airplanes and stearing them into the Twin Towers, New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The 3rd plane was brought down by courageous passengers on Fl. 93 which crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. .
